The Vibes?
Step inside the three-storey central Soho venue, and you are immediately immersed in the eclectic Tokyo rock-and-roll interior inspired by 50s and 60s Japanese subcultures and the quintessential American diner.
What we Ate?
The menu at ICHIBUNS includes a selection of must-try dishes inspired by Japan’s food capital, Hokkaido.
Start with a few yummy nibbles! We had the Salmon Bites; Crispy fried salmon nuggets, in golden panko breadcrumb crust, served with chilli mayo.
We loved our Snow Crab MAKI! Freshly made nori & rice rolls, with masago, avocado, cucumber, spicy mayo
Signature dishes (created by top-chef of the Merivale group, Executive chef of Mr Wong – Brendon Fong) include: The Hokkaido! Two 90g beef patties, sliced red onion, sautéed shiitake mushrooms, white truffle oil, blue cheese fondue.
We also tried the Japanese Classic, Chicken Katsu, burger. Panko crusted fried chicken breast is topped with beef tomato, Japanese coleslaw and mayonnaise and packed into a sweet brioche bun.
We Recommend
The Wagu Cheeseburger Harumaki is the most unusually delicious take on a spring roll we have ever tried! Wrapped inside the crispy Japanese rolls is a special beef blend, cheese, gherkins, and classic burger sauce
We Drank?
Once again, ICHIBUNS impresses with their shakes selection and sealed to go cocktails – oh yes, I said takeaway cocktails!
Our Thoughts?
Born by the founders of Nobu, Busaba Eathai, Ping Pong; ICHIBUNS has been delivered to us by the industries best, and they certainly do deliver!
Our favourite part! On entering ICHIBUNS, guests can order takeaway from the concrete counter which has been moulded to represent Japanese granite or will be guided to one of the restaurants three floors where they operate table service!
