REVIEW: Gillray’s

The vibes?

The decor is classic and classy, with natural light streaming in, a great escape from the gloom outside! decorated with large leather lounge chairs in the bar and in terms of the restaurant long leather stalls surround the venue with wood panels lining the walls.

What we ate 

To start we had Pan Fried Scallops and Ham Hock Fritters, the scallops were delightful and soft, the texture was perfect, not too chewy and not too hard. The ham hock fritters were amazing, the soft sweet taste of the ham hock paired with the fried outer shell creates a perfect balance between soft and crunchy.

Then to follow we had Rib Eye steak, recommend having it medium rare to ensure its at its most juicy, whilst being perfectly pink the crust of the steak was nicely charred. Alongside we had Triple Cooked Chips, which are a definite treat.

Our thoughts?

Gillray’s is the perfect escape from the bustle of Westminster and provides one of the most extensive steak menus, with some amazing cuts of beef.  Also having other amazing offerings such as the catch of the day and the classic fish & chips. Gillray’s is a uniquely British steak restaurant that caters for those looking for something not too complex but extremely well done.
