It is that time of the year again! Before you start buying your chocolate eggs and indulging in the Easter festivities, why not celebrate Pancake Day this Tuesday. Here are our top picks:
1. Sanderson Hotel
This Shrove Tuesday, the Restaurant at Sanderson are putting on a show stopping live crêpe station. Their classic combo of pancakes, lemon and sugar will be available for lunch and dinner.
2. Kyms
If you’re feeling more adventurous, then the authentic Chinese restaurant Kyms is the place to go, located in Bloomsberg. Why not try their classic Crispy Duck and Pancakes. If you’re interested in something more savoury over sweet, then have a taste of Kym’s recently launched Vegetarian Peking Duck.
3. Smith and Wollensky
Yes Smith and Wollensky may be your popular steak restaurant, but this Pancake Day they are going all out with their biggest pancake stack ever. See it for yourself, and if you’re brave enough, why not take part in their Man vs Pancake challenge! So if you manage to devour all pancakes in under an hour, then you walk away without paying a penny. Make sure to check it out!
4. Where The Pancakes Are
Everything you need to know about this Pancake spot is quite self-explanatory. This is where the pancakes are. Their menu is simple yet it gives plenty of choice at any time of the day. Sweet & savoury, classic & progressive, small or big. Featuring everyone’s favourite buttermilk pancakes coated with lemon and sugar pistachios. This year, WTPA will be extending their opening hours from 7am to midnight and hosting a pop-up in Flat Iron Square! And, if you’re not feeling too full, why not take part in their three-legged pancake flipping race?
5. Mews of Mayfair
Mews of Mayfair are mixing up their pancakes with a refreshing Piña Colada. To go with your cocktail, they have created stacks of pancakes that are made up with pineapple, coconut compote, Captain Morgan rum syrup and coconut yoghurt. So make sure you’re first in line for the one off pop-up pancake station in Mews Art Gallery!
6. The Delaunay
If you’re looking for something more traditional, then visit The Delaunay where you can get the best pancakes in the city. This may just be another day at The Delaunay but the traditional pancakes that come in stacks of three, are everyone’s favourite topped with blueberry and crème fraîche.
7. Riding House Café
Vanilla clotted cream, fresh fruit, and a drizzle of maple syrup. What could be better than this? Maybe the fact that they come bottomless! So don’t forget to visit Riding House Café this Shrove Tuesday.
8. The Little Blue Door
If you happen to be working this Tuesday or can’t make it to any of the best pancake spots. Don’t panic, because The Little Blue Door are extending their Pancake Day to the weekend. They’re putting together a Saturday brunch of bottomless pancakes which naturally, will be also served with bottomless prosecco to go with them.
9. La Petit Bretagne
If you’re near either Dalston or Hammersmith, then make sure you pop into LPB. One of the biggest Breton-style crepe chains in the city. Their savoury galettes are made with buckwheat flour, and come with cheese, ham, egg, smoked salmon, raclette, bacon, stilton and so much more.
10. Social Eating House
If the first thought that pops into your mind when you think of Pancake Day is ‘Franco-Japanese fusion cuisine’, then Social Eating House should be the first stop on your Pancake Day London crawl. They’re serving stacks of Mille Crêpes, with layer upon layer of crêpes sandwiched together with lemon crème pâtissière, plus lemon and Chantilly cream on the top.
