The MNKY HSE is the newest addition to Mayfair restaurant repertoire and we think it is bringing both the party and some of the cities most superb food and drinks. Replacing what was once Dover Street Wine Bar, on first greet you are met with MNKY HSE’s Lounge area that alludes Latin Party flare with chic dark leather interior. The restaurant area itself has an open kitchen which is fronted by ex Four Seasons Chef Pablo Penalosa who has brought a diverse range of Latin inspiration with a British twist to the menu.
The amazingly accommodating staff advised us to go tapas style and choose a number of different dishes. This is definitely best suited when ordering in MNKY HSE to try a bit of all they have to offer, from shishito peppers and gauc, to braised lamb shank and truffle assorted mushroom rice.
We opened with some of the Mexican inspired crispy tortillas, including the yellow tail with mayan sauce and the wagu beef, both really packed a punch of flavor and I could have eaten a whole board of these to myself!
Another fish yellow tail snapper starter with a citrus passion fruit and orange sauce was super fresh and tangy, the perfect accompaniment with this mild fish. Lightly battered Sticky soy chicken lollypops and rock shrimp tempura with spicy mayo are perfect to share.
My highlight was most definitely the Beef tenderloin which is chimichurri, an uncooked parsley packed sauce which originated from Argentia. Served on a coal smoker, this delicate meat stood alone on flavor. Also the, marinated black cod was similarly melt in the mouth!
As expected, this late night bar lives up to the party vibes with talented mixologists shaking up a range of signature cocktails. The cucumber fizz was the dream brew-up for a gin girl like me!
Arrive to MNKY HSE with an empty stomach and your dancing shoes and I promise you will not be disappointed!
