REVIEW: The Coral Room at The Bloomsbury

What?

Set in the heart of the bloomsbury hotel, The Coral Room is inspired by a ‘country-meets-city’ concept. With a fantastic cocktail menu and food options and a secluded cigar terrace and garden.

Where?

Address: The Coral Room 16-22 Great Russell Street, Bloomsbury, London WC1B 3NN

The Vibes?

The room was decorated with distinctive coral coloured walls, five beautiful bespoke Murano glass chandeliers, lending to the idea of a stately home in the countryside

Also acclaimed British illustrator Luke Edward Hall has created 36 bespoke pieces of original art to line the coral walls inspired by the ever-evolving Bloomsbury area.

What we ate & drank

To start we had the Chicory Salad, Walnuts, Pear, Cashel Blue, Honey & Mustard Dressing, was refreshing and not too dense or intense a flavour considering the strength of the Cashel Blue cheese brings to the plate.

Then to follow we had Seared Tuna and Wasabi Mayo, the tuna is seared gently giving it a vibrant pink in the middle, light and delicate for a tuna dish and complemented with the heat from the wasabi.

The Lobster & Crayfish Mac’n’Cheese was a favorite, with lobster and crayfish laced within the dish to provide salty and meaty notes and combined with the cheese creates a incredibly rich and powerful dish.

The 28-Day Dry-Aged Aberdeen Beef Carpaccio, served with rocket created another fresh and elegant dish, the rich aged beef combined with the rocket provided a fresh light dish. To drink we had Gin Lane Hendrick’s, a floral mixture but not too sweet due to the dry gin, easy drinker, very floral and summery, perfect escape from the winter weather!

To follow we had a Barbour and Barrel. A whisky cocktail is hard to pull off, especially pulling off such a well balanced cocktail, the egg white provided a fluffy and delicate texture and the pineapple juice gently masks the intensity of the whisky. Perfect winter cocktail with honey and ginger, very soothing!

Our Thoughts?

Bringing a country, stately vibe to the busy bustling center of London, check out the extensive sparkling wine list and enjoy the cocktails and small plates they have on offer. The service is impeccable and the staff will make you feel right at home and it’s not hard to either, with the sofa style seating a comfortable and warm escape from the cold!

Perfect for a meetings or just drinks with friends.
