Shoreditch has become a haven for the London foodie scene, with everything from vibrant bars and elegant rooftops, to street food markets and Michelin starred 4am end-of-the-night-pit-stops. Gone are the days of stuffy sliver service British dining! Lyle’s slots in perfectly as the go to Shoreditch spot for diverse modern British cuisine in a cool contemporary environment.
Hidden in the old Liptons Tea warehouse, Lyle’s attentive and confident staff helped us choose some fantastic dishes from the daily evolving menu. Served as cooked, each small plate is a feast for the senses, beautifully crafted and distinctively flavoured.
We had the vibrant bitter leaves with pear and nutty berkswell cheese. The Game terrine is served with Crab Apple Jelly. Paste the terrine onto the warm homemade sourdough bread and you will be dying for a second helping!
The simply seasoned juicy scallops are garnished with monk’s beard, a shrub common to coastal regions in the Mediterranean Basin.
Though a tiny cattle, the Dexter is known for its big flavour! And the Dexter Flank at Lyle’s was the tenderest and intensely flavoursome piece of meat. Garnished with dulse and beetroot, this dish really demonstrates the culinary flare that Lyle’s is known for!
Don’t leave without satisfying your sweet tooth! We loved the rich chocolate mousse and buckwheat. But it is the unique yeast ice cream and sweet brioche that really stole the show!
It is hard not to be blown away by the simplicity and elegance of each dish at Lyle’s. The talented chefs have created a fabulously no fuss menu with dishes that definitely deliver. We enjoyed a lunch time feast at Lyle’s, but the restaurant also offers an excellent set menu in the evenings.
