Review: Capricci

If you are a pasta and wine fanatic then this is the spot for you this winter! Capricci is an authentic Italian restaurant placed along the buzzing Southbank. As it approaches winter I am constantly looking for new cosy restaurants to visit with a glass of Red Wine and some comfort food.

Enjoy a walk along the river taking in the Christmas Lights and buzz of the city before heading into Capricci – a petite restaurant and deli with a bookshelf of wine on display.

The team are welcoming and ensure to take the time in supporting you with the choosing of the perfect dish to suit you. Although the menu may look small from first sight, do not let this hinder your judgement. The Capricci menu is a reflection of what is market fresh and is, as a result, a celebration of the seasons. With daily lunch specials of mezze maniche, tonnarelli, paccheri, gnocchi, pappardelle, ravioli and lasagne. Primi highlights include cacio e pepe with freshly grated black truffle; rabbit ragu or octopus gnocchi.

It really is Italian heart warming food as its best!

What we ate!

To start we went for Bruschetta alla Sorrentina – this was served on Ciabatta style bread covered with a sundried tomato spread heavily seasons with herbs which complimented the mozerella perfectly. This is great as a sharer starter when followed by a pasta dish!

For the main we went for a Rabbit Ragu, I cannot emphasise enough how tasty this was! I would recommend this dish for anyone who is visiting Capricci for the first time as this is definitely the star of the menu. The portion size is extremely generous which made us fall in love with this restaurant event more!

Our Thoughts!

This is a great spot for a catch up with a glass of wine and a comforting traditional Italian dish. Each plate is flavoursome and cooked with such originality. Another great additional to this restaurant is the wine offering. Guests are able to pick bottles straight off the shelves or browse the carefully curated list, which features a daily selection of wines by the glass and combines natural wines from Italian micro producers with great classics such as Barolo, Amarone, Prosecco and a selection of the finest champagne and Franciacorta.
