Location:
Kyloe Gourmet Steak Restaurant
1-3 Rutland Street
Edinburgh . EH1 2AE
About:
As Edinburgh’s first gourmet steak restaurant, Kyloe stands out for its high quality and innovative Scottish cuisine. Kyloe is an old Scots word for Highland beef cattle, symbolizing the quality of cuts supplied by Scotland’s top farms and butchers. Using a selection of traditional cuts, along with some more unusual cuts chosen for their unique texture and flavour, award winning chef John Rutter has created an innovative Grill Menu. Or try the a la carte menu which features Scottish seasonal produce, including a tasty shellfish section and mouth-watering desserts created by the in-house pastry chef.
The wine list at Kyloe has been sourced through numerous wine merchants and features Kyloe’s signature wine ‘Angus the Bull’, a South Australian Cabernet Sauvignon which is the ideal complement for steak.
Private Dining: You can now enjoy a delicious Kyloe lunch or dinner in the sumptuous surroundings of the newly launched Private Dining room, catering for parties of 10 to 16 guests. Set your own soundtrack on the Bose surround sound audio system or catch all the major sporting events on the 63” HD/3D TV. The adjacent lounge bar provides a relaxing space for pre-dinner drinks or to gather afterwards with a digestif and conclude your meal with all the privacy and comfort of home.
Our Experience:
We loved the setting of Kyloe as soon as we walked in.
Lucky for us it was right next to The Rutland Apartments where we were staying.
Our waiter came out with their infamous meat board to explain the different types of cuts.
To start, we went for the oysters and a Tuna Tartare.
The oysters come in three different ways. We went for the traditional Fresh with Lemon and Tabasco.
The tuna tartare was delicious and fresh.
For main course, we shared the Chateaubriand with a chimichurri marinade. We also went for the surf’n’turf option of the Snow Crab!
Don’t be afraid to over order on the tasty selection of sides! – We recommend the mash potato, creamed spinach, Green beans, and garlic & chilli Grilled Portobello mushrooms. Sauce wise, we went for the traditional béarnaise and the bone marrow gravy.
We skipped dessert as you can imagine we were so full!!!
This one is a no-brainer if you are visiting Edinburgh! The food is totally delicious, while the setting is ideal for a large glass of red after a long day!
Perfect for client entertaining, special occasions, a hearty dinner or even a catch up with friends!
If you are visiting Edinburgh and are looking for somewhere to stay, we highly recommend Rutland Serviced Apartments..
