Planning on eating out this Diwali? Luckily, some of London’s top restaurants have devised excellent celebratory menus to be enjoyed throughout November. Take a look at our top ten picks.
Kennington Tandoori
The Kennington Tandoori are putting on a Diwali extravaganza on Wednesday 7th November. Highlights include the mouthwatering Classic Vegetable Plate, a feast of of spinach & fenugreek pakora, traditional vegetable samosa, and sigri paneer, with chutney & relish. Other specials include the Tandoori paneer & peas butter Masala and Chowpati Potato Chaat and much more. Be sure to book soon, so you don’t miss out on the one off Diwali cocktail! The Chilli Negroni is a fiery combination of Berry’s No 3 Gin, Kings Ginger, Lustau Red Vermut, orange bitters and toasted Kashmiri Chilli. Guests will end their meal on a sweet note with a selection of Indian petit fours.
Gymkhana
2018 marks the 5 year anniversary of Gymkhana, and 10 years of the JKS restaurants. As part of the month long celebrations, Gymkhana are celebrating Diwali in collaboration with the Elephant Family charity. This November, Gymkhana is getting a Diwali inspired floral makeover decorated with glimmering lights to create an undeniably beautiful spectacle. And the amazing celebrations do not stop there. It features an irresistible selection traditional dishes, with vegetarian options also available. Dishes include Tandoori Masala Lamb Chop & Boti Kebab and Guinea Fowl Biryani, Malabar Paratha, Subz Seekh Kebab, and Kala Moti Pilau, Cashewnut & Paneer. The Diwali tasting menu will be available from the 5th November – 9th November. Finally, celebrations will peak on Saturday 10th November with a Diwali candle lit dinner experience.
Benares
Upon entering the restaurant, prepare to be dazzled by the especially colourful flower display and delicate silk scarves, which will be gifted to women upon arriving in the main lounge. Until Friday 9th November, Benares will serve an impressive set lunch menu for £27-29. Benares will also offer Petit Fours to guests who order from the tasting menu, and a scented candle to take home with them.
Veeraswamy
Established in 1926 by the great-grandson of an English General and an Indian Mughal princess, Veeraswamy is the UK’s oldest Indian restaurant. The legendary culinary hotspot is still just as fashionable decades later. And this year it is celebrating Diwali with a range of unique dishes. Celebrations will last until Saturday 10th November, where guests can enjoy special dishes and Diwali desserts.
Chutney Mary
As we approach Diwali, Chutney Mary will be honouring this important Hindu festival with special dishes including Jackfruit Biryani, Kofta Curry of Dried fruits and Clotted cream & Truffle Khichdi (Indian Risotto). The special menu will be available from Monday 5th November – Saturday 10th November.
Chokhi Dhani
Chokhi Dhani brings Rajasthan fine dining to south-west London, offering a sophisticated Indian culinary experience. For your Diwali celebrations, Chokhi Dhani have launched a special seasonal menu for the occasion. The menu will be available until the 11th November and will include traditional vegetarian dishes such as paneer kofta in a rich cashew nut sauce, tamarind pickled rice, and a sharing platter of vegetable fritters.
The Cinnamon Club
The Cinnamon Club champions modern Indian cuisine and their menus are always evolving with special takes on traditional game and fish dishes, as well as celebratory sharing dishes and seasonal options. To celebrate Diwali, The Cinnamon Club has curated an impressive five course menu. Prepare for a delectable main course of Chargrilled rack of Romney Marsh lamb, a dessert of Original Beans chocolate mousse and more!
Jamarvar uncovers the unique flavours from the diverse Indian culinary world. The best of this is championed in their exclusive Diwali menu. To begin with, the 6 course tasting menu features a decadent collection of fragrant dishes. This will also be followed by a trio of desserts. Choose from the standard or vegetarian menus, and add an accompanying wine or whisky pairing for £60.
Trishna
For the 10 year celebrations of Trishna and the JKS restaurant group anniversary, the restaurant will also be putting on celebrations for Diwali. From feasting menus to magical floral installations, on this occasion from Monday 5th November – Friday 9th November, Trishna will be embracing the festival. The six course menu will incorporate popular south-west Indian inspired dishes. These include Koliwada Squid & Shrimps, Hariyali Bream and Meen Manga Curry. There will also be an alternative vegetarian menu serving equally as stunning dishes.
Flora Indica
Flora Indica’s dishes revolve around modern Indian cuisine in the form of small plates and delicious cocktails. The restaurant is hosting a four course Diwali menu including delicacies such as slow-braised lamb rogan josh or monkfish and king prawn with Bengali malai curry sauce. Upon arrival, guests will also be treated to a Flora Fizz cocktail. The Diwali themed menu will be available from the 5th-11th November for £45.
