YOPO at The Mandrake Hotel

Exporting the bold flavours of Buenos Aires, Santiago and Lima and bringing them to London, YOPO showcases these alongside the very finest seasonal and regional produce available. Much of South American culture is about gathering together at YOPO they encourage guests to start their experience with a selection of sharing plates.

YOPO is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the lounge, with its own entrance on Newman Street, is open all day with a light snack menu and coffee and lunches available for take away.

Restaurant Review

Located in Soho’s Mandrake Hotel, YOPO is a fun and relaxing restaurant. The interior is dimly lit with lots of warm candles and ornaments which adds to the vibrant feel throughout. As well as the restaurant area, there is a separate bar which has expert mixologists at hand to create delicious cocktails such as their ‘mangosteen’, a super refreshing, spicy mango and grapefruit mix.  Most evenings and weekends a DJ sets up within a section of the bar to liven up the atmosphere even further.

The menu is inspired by the Head Chef’s travels around South America with a variety of options that are inclusive of different dietary requirements such as vegetarians. We were advised that the menu is formed to be a sharing plate style so we selected a few plates between us such as the parmesan tapioca, mushroom & white bean tostada and beef empanada. Throughout the meal it was clear that each plate was carefully curated with ingredients that are packed with flavour. These plates were then followed by the tuna tartare which was fresh and light, and the romesco salad with candied hazelnuts. We finished the meal with their cheesecake that was rich in flavour and the white chocolate dessert that helped to complete the evening perfectly. YOPO also has private dining rooms available for different group sizes. The restaurant is great for special occasions in their glamorous dining area or a quick cocktail in their relaxing bar.
