Seasonal British Cuisine 

Dining at Harry’s Bar & Kitchen champions seasonal British cuisine with a menu that puts the spotlight on locally sourced, quality ingredients, including fresh vegetables from the hotel’s own kitchen garden.

 

Dishes change regularly according to what’s best in season and availability of local produce, but sample dishes include starters such as the “Denny” – a pork and apricot croquette served with apricot ketchup and garden apple relish – or the Enoki Mushroom Bao Bun, with coriander and a ponzu and soy dressing. Mains courses are a masterclass in meat-cookery, with a focus on grill dishes that might include aged sirloin and ribeye steaks, slow braised pork belly, and confit barbary duck leg, as well as comforting classics such as ale battered cod and chips or the signature Harry’s Burger. With sandwiches and wraps for light lunches, and delicious vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options such as spiced oven roasted cauliflower or quinoa and cranberry salad, guests will be spoilt for choice.

 

 

Drinks will be mixed and muddled to order at the expansive bar – enjoy cocktails such as the Horwood Apple Cooler – a refreshing blend of gin, apple juice, lemonade, and ginger ale – and the Weddings Belle made with gin, red vermouth, cherry liqueur, and orange, alongside a carefully curated selection of wines and local beers on tap.

 

Taking inspiration from the estate’s 38 acres of beautiful gardens and rich agricultural history, the restaurant’s contemporary design blends seamlessly with the wooden beams. Warm textural finishes of velvet, leather and tweed complement an earthy palette accompanied by lush planters and horticultural artwork – a nod to Percy Thrower, acclaimed gardener and son of the restaurant’s namesake, Harry.

 

 

Weddings and Corporate Events

With stylish interiors, 38 acres of perfectly manicured gardens and luxurious bedrooms, the idyllic surroundings of Horwood House create the perfect setting for the big day. With two ceremony locations to choose from, the Manor Lounge is brimming with grand features, boasting high ceilings, an impressive stone fireplace, chandeliers, and beautiful leaded light windows. For a picturesque outdoor backdrop, a white wedding pavilion is situated within the historical gardens, creating a truly romantic oasis to be enjoyed throughout the summer months. The neutral and spacious settings of the Eyre and Cook Suites can be decorated to any chosen style, holding up to 200 guests, with the option to add a dancefloor and DJ. Couples can also choose to use the grounds for a drink’s reception and photography.

 

Horwood House showcases an extensive portfolio of brand-new events facilities, offering 15 multi-purpose spaces, many with natural light, suitable for business meetings, corporate training, conferences, private dinners, parties, and celebrations. With features in the facilities including state-of-the-art wireless VIA GO presentation equipment alongside superfast Wi-Fi, the rooms range from intimate spaces that can accommodate 10, through to larger event areas for up to 270 guests’ seated theatre style. The hotel grounds also provide a wonderful canvas for al-fresco celebrations or outdoor team-building activities, with a variety to choose from such as country pursuits, treasure hunts, and a Bear Grylls survival challenge!
