Formerly the ground-floor carpark of the ABC Building on Quay Street, the Everyman Manchester St. John’s certainly belies its rough, concrete roots. Its 1960s-style lounge area glows with brass panelling and timber features, not to mention a luxuriously plush booth seat, set below a mirrored ceiling.
But its star spaces are its three uniquely styled screening rooms: the 114-seat Screen 1 is decked out in red and gold; the 72-seat Screen 2 has a striking 1970s vibe; and the 59-seat Screen 3 goes for a rich brown-and-bronze look, complete with a portrait of ultimate diva Barbra Streisand overlooking its velvet sofa seating.
This concrete block design of the former car park has been re-created within the back bar where it forms a decorative back drop as well as practical drinks display. The concrete finish is offset against rich timber and brass panelling, plush velvet seating, polished timber floor and modern marble tiling.
Moving through the bar towards the auditoria, an intimate lounge area has its own distinctive 1960’s flair with rosewood panelling and black brick cladding. Here you can also find a unique bed style booth seat, set below a mirror panelled ceiling, perfect for large groups.
Drinks and food can be enjoyed in any of these inter-linked spaces or can be delivered direct to your seat in the screen.
