Hosting an event on a grade I-listed tea clipper ship is bound to get your guests attention, whether you’re entertaining clients at a corporate event or hosting a product launch or award ceremony. Built in 1869 to carry tea back from China, Cutty Sark offers more than just a grand spectacle, with a historic legacy that is sure to give your event an extra-special edge. It is part of the Royal Museums Greenwich, a collection of historical venues that comprise the National Maritime Museum, Queen’s House, Royal Observatory Greenwich and the Peter Harrison Planetarium.
Cutty Sark’s main and most modern space is the Dry Berth, a stunning room that’s ideal for receptions, dinners and product launches and can hold up to 400 standing, or 240 people seated. The huge copper-clad hull suspended above the space creates an iridescent glow – akin to water – that really brings the venue’s nautical connotations to life.
The Tween Deck, meanwhile, is located in the centre of the ship and was once the place that cargo (tea) would be stored and carried overseas. Now, it’s a stunning space for sit-down dinners, receptions and other events, with a capacity of up to 100 standing or 60 seated banquet-style.
The last two spaces are the Weather Deck and Master Saloon. The Weather Deck is an outdoor space located on the deck of the ship, with breathtaking views across London and a capacity of up to 130 people. Perfect for summer parties and drinks receptions. While the Master Saloon is a wooden-clad room perfect for small-scale, exclusive and intimate events – it holds just 10 people seated around a single table. The Mahogany-paneled room is a fantastic spot for private dinners and can be hired in conjunction with the other spaces within the venue.
