Unique Restaurants in London

Are you looking for something quirky, interesting and out of the ordinary to share with friends, family or a loved one? Here are a selection of some of London’s greatest stand out restaurants which will get you talking to others about. These restaurants each have their own original perk with something for you to test the boundaries and try something new.

Sketch

Sketch is one of the most popular and obvious choices for a unique spot in Mayfair but arguably is one of the most impressive restaurants in London. The venue is made up of a variety of exquisite areas all which offer their own impressive miniature worlds. The Gallery, where the formerly iconic pink room caught the likes of many celebrities has just had a make over making a re-visit sound even more appealing. The interior of the Glade is really where the magic is at, where the room recently redesigned in 2017, transports guests to a magical enchanted forest so that you can really live your own fairy tale for a few hours. For more casual encounters the Parlour, is a room of many moods with neon lights giving the place an eccentric feel in which you can enjoy this space as a patisserie by day and  as a stage with live music by night. The highest accolade of them all is the lecture room which has been awarded three Michelin stars.  It must be noted that the interior really doesn’t distract from the quality of the dishes as the food certainly does speak for itself.  The toilets, better known as the egg shaped pods, gives a futuristic twist really adding to the niche of the whole experience. Who knew using the rest room could be so exciting!

The Jam

The Jam or better referred to as the treehouse or bunkbed restaurant is an adults dream playground. Serving up authentic Italian dishes this restaurant initially poses as a good spot situated on Kings Road but not many people can say they have climbed up to their table before. Come here for the ideal casual dining experience in which you can share pizzas with friends with a variety of vegan options also on offer.

Piano Works

Take control at this audience led live music venue based in London’s West End and Farringdon. The concept here is that each table can request their own song and choose the nights repertoire. Choose your vibe and watch it come to life by the 6 piece house band. If bottomless brunch is your thing then this is your place with 2 hours of free flowing drinks and some delicious brunch dishes this is the ideal place to enjoy with friends. The underground bar style paired with the lively atmosphere will be sure to get you on your feet.

Dans Le Noir

This restaurant takes taste to a whole new level. Re-evaluate your perception of taste by sitting and eating gourmet, creative and seasonal cuisine in darkness whilst being served by blind and visually impaired waiters. Dans Le Noir accentuates what food is really all about by stripping back the unnecessary, removing the need for a dress code and focusing purely on satisfying your taste buds. Wanting more … the tasting sessions and wine tastings are selected by sensory experts and is an amazing workshop opportunity. This restaurant is a great spot to take your partner, family, friends or even better for a blind date as well known in the film ‘About Time’. Choose from the red menu which focuses on free range British butchery, the blue menu which hosts a freshly caught bounty of the seas or the green menu which is vegan.

Archipelago

The food bush tucker trial on I’m a Celeb has been adopted in a luxury style. No where else in London will you be seen having peanut coated mealworms followed by spicy crocodile or zebra jerky. This place paints an exotic style all round with peacock feathers, palm trays and an array of global treasures. The dishes range and can be anything from the slow cooked beef to the inventive crocodile curry. Vegan and vegetarian options are also available too. This is definitely the scene for the adventurous.

Bob Bob Ricard

This restaurant is the height of luxury. Thirsty? The press for champagne button has you covered and is an iconic highlight for many. The wow factor doesn’t stop here as dinners including the lobster macaroni cheese, steak tartare imperial and chicken and champagne pie are exceptional. If your looking for something more intimate then the private dining rooms are an impressive place to host gatherings.

The Windmill

Dinner and a show is a popular evening out for many but why not combine the two. The Windmill, located in Soho, hosts talented singers, dancers and showgirls which will immerse you into a wonderful world of theatre and cabaret. A mundane dinner experience is far from what the windmill has to offer with spectacular entertainment, an imaginative cocktail list designed by mixologist Andy Mil and a luxurious menu crafted by Michelin starred Chef Andrew Mcleish. The silver, gold and platinum menu allows you to choose from a two course to a four course meal.

Inamo

Inamo has a variety of restaurants located in Leicester Squre, Tottenham Court Road, Covent Garden, Piccadilly and China Town serving Japanese, Chinese and Thai Food. This restaurant evokes playfulness with the futuristic interactive tables that allow you to play retro games, discover the local neighbourhood, watch the live chef-cam feed,  graffiti your table top and set the mood all at the tip of your fingers. The Games Room and Onyx Room are award winning private dining rooms with even more fun with games and a karaoke machine perfect to accommodate all your party needs. The fun doesn’t stop here as Inamo regularly hosts events such as sushi making masterclasses, cocktail classes and karaoke, comedy nights and a kids sushi class. This multifaceted venue will keep you and even your children entertained.

Trader Vic’s

Last but by no means is this tropical oasis hidden away in London’s Hilton on Park Lane. This fusion restaurant and tiki bar has a menu serving eclectic global cuisines and divine fruity concoctions. This polynesian treasure will spice up your typical evenings out and add a touch of exotic to traditional mainstream dinners such as the Hong Kong style sea bass and island style fish and chips.
