I recently decided to go and check out Torquay as a destination for away days and conferences!
Why Torquay:
* new high-speed transport links – with wifi all the way
* superb new accommodation offer
* fine fresh Devon ‘farm to fork’ foods
* wonderful wildlife encounters
* a state-of-the-art conference centre with sea views and gardens.
* experience nature’s playground perfect for team-building and incentive travel
Torquay, birthplace of Agatha Christie. It’s a quintessential bucket and spade resort, described in the Guardian in late 2016 as one of ‘Britain’s most booming seaside towns, undergoing a style revival with Michelin started restaurants and swanky yachts”. Instagram palm trees on sandy beaches, the harbour lit up at night and the pristine marina in the bright sunshine. Exceptional local ingredients from land and sea are the norm in the English Riviera, home to some of the UK’s top artisan producers and also the UK’s biggest fish market by value.
Getting There:
Took the train from Paddington Station with GWR
We went first class and it makes such a difference! It’s 3 hours of bliss with unlimited wifi, snacks, drinks and food. The time went so fast!
***If you are booking the conference centre they can get you really good deals with GWR!
Planning a Conference?
It is now cheaper and easier than ever to travel to your conference in Torquay. GWR, Conference English Riviera and the Riviera International Conference Centre, have collaborated to offer conference rail fares exclusively to delegates travelling to conferences on the English Riviera. Leave the car at home, do your bit for the environment and let GWR whisk you at speeds of up to 125mph direct to Torquay station.
These special fares are available approximately 3 months prior to the conference, and can be from as little as £49 return, from London to Torquay.
DDR start from £28 plus VAT!!!
The food is sensational and not what one would expect from a conference centre and for the price – so affordable !!!!
Words can’t describe how nice it was!
You can book everything with Nicky who is absolutely amazing and a wonderful host!
