REVIEW: Moxy Hotel Stratford

Where is Moxy Stratford?

Less than a 5-minute walk from Stratford Tube Station.

A 10-minute walk from Stratford International Train Station.

It’s an ideal location for people visiting London (for work or pleasure) as the transport options allow for easy travel to all destinations.

Located right next to Westfield Stratford and Stratford Shopping Centre both with lots of restaurants and retail shops and 15 minutes from the Olympic Park where you can explore and watch sports matches.

What is Moxy?

Part of the Marriott Hotels, Moxy brands itself as a trendy, casual style of hotel, with lots of communal areas and check-in at the bar. They call themselves ‘playful’ with beer pong tables, giant Jenga, pool and football tables.

The Hotel

After a quick check-in at the bar, we saw the fun communal spaces they had to offer, including a meeting room, workspaces with computers and more informal seating areas by the bar. Decorations included tributes to the 2012 London Olympics that took place around the corner, bright colours and fun slogans throughout. My absolute favourite wall art was on the door to the lift – it had the famous quote from Alice in Wonderland, “we’re all mad here” along with a picture of the big Cheshire cat grin!

The bar was open until 11 pm, which gave us the nice option, if we wanted, a drink to finish off the night before heading back up to our room.

The staff were all very friendly and inviting throughout our stay. We asked for 2 extra pillows which they happily provided very swiftly.

The Room

We were welcomed to balloons (one of which had my name on it), tiny plastic ducks and fun personal messages on the mirrors and glass as we entered our room. A few complimentary snacks were also left for us, along with a nice welcome message. They really pulled out all the stops and we were really impressed by it all!

Our room was on the 5th of 6 floors at Moxy, so the view from our window (particularly at night) was amazing – we could see all the buildings lit up around us!

One of my favourite parts about the room was how up to date it was on the tech. Our TV gave us the option to connect to our phone, allowing us to stream Netflix, Youtube, Spotify and more, meaning we could watch what we wanted rather than having to search through the TV guide and hope there is something good on. It was very accessible and easy to use and set up, so even the less tech-savvy of us can enjoy their favourite shows.

The room had a hairdryer as well as shampoo and conditioner, providing us with all the necessities we needed for our stay.

Check-out was not until 12 pm, which was really lovely as it let us have a slow relaxed morning without the rush or stress that sometimes comes with trying to leave a room before the early check-out time.

The convenient location meant we had lots of options for dinner. The range of cuisines on offer were varied – some being Italian, Greek, Mexican and Mediterranean. We tried a place called Figo near Stratford, which is definitely worth a try if you are in the area as the food was delicious.

Breakfast the next morning was offered until 11 am and was buffet-style with options including meat, cheeses, pastries, hot food and cereal. We were really spoilt for choice and had a graze over it all so we didn’t miss out! Something to note is they had vegan and dairy-free options (including vegan pancakes and alternative milk) which was inclusive, being dairy-free myself, and seeing it on offer rather than having to ask if they have any. There was also a good selection of coffees, teas and juices to choose from.

The Takeaway

I would really recommend trying a Moxy hotel if you are travelling to somewhere that has one (they are all over Europe, Asia and the USA). They offer a good price per night and have a fun, relaxed vibe that is rare to find in hotels.

The workspaces make it great for those working whilst travelling, and the meeting room may come in handy if you need a space to meet up with a colleague/ client or a post-work drink at the end of the day.

You can also earn Marriott points when you stay at Moxy Hotels as one of the perks!
