The Vibes:
London’s notorious restaurant duo Paulo de Tarso and Nicolas Jaouën are the masterminds behind Covent Garden’s glamour’s dining spot Margot that focuses on old school Italian hospitality, refned interior and authentic Italian food.
What we Ate:
Entrée; Full marks for the Vitello tonnato as recommended by our fantastic waiter, which consisted of thinly sliced roast veal served on a tuna and mayonnaise sauce, garnished with baby carrots and green bean salad.
The fresh wild seabass carpaccio with wild chicory and zingy blood orange was picture perfect.
Filetti di triglia arrosto – Seared fillet of flaky and exquisite tasting red mullet is plated with a rich burrata sauce, roast baby lettuce and squid ink dressing.
To finish the Italian feast we opted for the Caramel mousse desert served with vanilla ice cream, “affogato” with espresso coffee.
What We Drank:
Disznókö Tokaji Dry Furmint – The perfect cool crisp late lunch glass.
We Recommend:
It would have been a shame not to try their signature Tagliolini con gamberi rossi – Home made Tagliolini with Sicilian red prawns, artichokes and torpedino tomatoes – and the dish was balanced wonderfully with punchy chilly and briny artichokes, while the juicy torpendino tomatoes add delicate sweetness.
Our Thoughts:
The moment you walk into the glamorous setting in Margot you are no longer on a Covent Garden corer but an elegant Italian hangout with a cool cocktail bar and luxurious leather booths perfect for a Tagliolini tasting!
