As Restaurants begin to open their doors again this December, here is a list of some of the newest additions to London’s restaurant scene, definitely worth checking out on the run up to Christmas.
Imad’s Syrian Kitchen
A restaurant set up by Imad Alarnab, a Syrian chef and refugee living in London, serving up some of the best of Syria’s dishes. His restaurant is full to the brim with heart-warming and delicious food, his famous falafel will take pride of place in his selection of meze. Get yourself down to Imad’s Syrian Kitchen to try some beautifully heart-warming dishes perfect for this time of year!
Hideaway by Ollie Dabbous
Starting as a pop-up in Chelsea and Burlington Arcade, Hide’s spin-off café Hideaway now has a permanent home, on Mount Street in Mayfair. Michelin-starred chef Ollie Dabbous is behind this all-day cafe-style venue, which replaces Mount Street Deli. The theme is vintage Paris, which reflected in both the décor and the menu. Open all day and with seating inside and out it’ll serve up coffees and pastries in the morning, progressing to oysters and Champagne, lobster rolls and salads later in the day. A must try on the menu is Hide’s signature truffle croque monsieur!
Café Deco by Anna Tobias
Café Deco is a laid-back eatery showcasing a modern interpretation of classis British cooking and a celebration of wine. Expect simple, seasonal and hearty small plate dishes served alongside a selection of natural wines.
The Cheese Barge
Get ready for the Cheese Barge to dock in Paddington! The newest venture from the founder of Pick and Cheese and The Cheese Bar, Mathew Carver. This cheese lover’s dream is a double-decker cheese barge, once open it will be making waves in the restaurant scene serving seasonal dishes that pay homage to the best of British Cheese.
Keep an eye out for opening, ready to hop on board after lockdown and enjoy a cheesy voyage celebrating the best of our British Cheese.
Nobu Restaurant at Nobu Hotel Portman Square
Delight all your senses at the new exquisite Japanese restaurant in Marylebone at Nobu Hotel London Portman Square. Pioneered by Chef Nobu Matsuhisa, the iconic Nobu menu is influenced by his years of studying Japanese cuisine in Tokyo and his extensive travels. The diverse celebration of flavours formed Nobu’s trademark ‘Nobu Style’, which is intrinsic to all Nobu menus worldwide. Sample Nobu’s world-renowned signature dishes at their new opening this December.
Darjeeling Express is home to Indian food cooked from the heart. The food is a true homage to our founder Asma’s royal Mughlai ancestry and the busy streets of Calcutta, where she grew up. Food here is served the way Indian food is meant to be eaten – platters of dishes boasting texture and flavours, encouraging you to gather and share in the style of the traditional ‘daawat’ (feast). Their new in Covent Garden location will also be home to the new takeaway Deli by Darjeeling Express offering toasties, kati rolls and other smaller snacks and their famous spiced Masala Chai, which is definitely worth trying.
Bisushima at Page8 Hotel
Launching this winter is Bisushima; an all-day rooftop restaurant and bar serving up progressive Japanese cuisine overlooking Trafalgar Square. Bisushima is the creation of Chef and Restaurateur, Sergey Men, alongside his business partner Ruslav Ugarov. Sergey has developed a signature style turning high quality produce into well-balanced and flavoursome, modern Japanese food.
Bisushima also has an impressive rooftop bar where you can enjoy a drink directly overlooking iconic Trafalgar Square and the bottom of Covent Garden.
This new Notting Hill restaurant is a modern Mexican taqueria dishing up a contemporary and refined Japanese twist on Mexican dishes. Los Mochis menu includes tostadas, tiraditos and ceviche, alongside their ‘Gangster Taco Menu’ which features 22 takes on a taco. Head down to Los Mochis to see the beauty of Mexican and Japanese food blossoming into some special tacos!
