New Openings this August

August is approaching and we have a slew of upcoming openings to inform you on. London already has an exciting dining scene but with these new highlights you now have even more choice to discover. Foodies get your forks at the ready because August has some spectacular new spots for you to explore.

Granger & Co

Taking the Sunny chilled out spirit from Australia Granger & Co is opening its latest 85 seater restaurant on Marylebone high street. Embracing the local feel of the warm neighbourhood, similar to the other restaurants, the space has been designed in a way to create an informal yet welcoming feel where visitors are welcomed in no matter what occasion. Grabbing a coffee in the morning, catching up with friends over lunch or sipping a drink at the bar either way each visit will feel like a little treat to lighten up your day.

Whilst their menu hasn’t been released yet if its anything like the other venues you will sure to be satisfied. Serving up breakfast, lunch and dinner, smoothies, coffees, cocktails the restaurant has you covered. Most importantly you will be pleased to know the signature dish ricotta hotcakes will continue to feature at this restaurant. As for the interior this restaurant will certainly brighten up your day where the soothing sunset shades, caramel tones and bright yellow bounce of the walls. And if that doesn’t spread infectious joy then the brunch certainly will.

Feels Like June

Summer has officially arrived in London and so has this new restaurant, officially on the 1st of august. With the frequent heatwaves there’s nothing we need more than a Californian summer inspired restaurant where you can sit back and devour almost anything for their all day menu. Europe-meets-West Coast flair and the terrace certainly poses as the ideal hideaway to soak up the rays. In the morning if you fancy grabbing a pistachio and almond Danish or breakfast burrito on the way to work, than this is your place.

For Canary Wharf workers this will be your new weekly lunch catch up serving up delicious summer salads such as their shredded kale salad and dishes such as the shrimp taco. When the evenings draw in the Coconut Negroni and Tideline Highball on tap will keep the drinks cool and crisp. What more can you wish for? Well adding to the excitement if you head on down between the 1st – 4th August you can get yourself 50% of breakfast, lunch and dinner. Best check it out.

Barrafina Borough Yards

Barrafina is placing its fifth latest addition in Borough Yards just moments away from London Bridge. For small plate fun in the city Barrafina is certainly a go to with four successful restaurants each with their own daily changing specials menu unique to each restaurant. Their new restaurant will continue to bring you their most loved tapas staples with brand-new dishes plucked from the Basque region. Whilst technically this venue is opening on the 30th July at the end of this month we deemed it too important to leave out.

Nestled within SE1’s new dining and shopping home, the setting is amongst railway arches, viaducts and warehouses and the vibes are rather laid back bringing you that trendy urban feel.  Their Borough Yards restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner Tuesday-Saturday and 12pm-5pm on Sundays. The new menu will be devised by chef director Angel Martin taking cues from Balearic, Catalan and Mediterranean-Spanish Cuisine. Just to give you an idea if you haven’t been before than expect dishes such as pan con tomate, chipirone and chorizo with potato and watercress. To wash it all down the succinct wine list features the best Spanish sherries, cavas and wines. Bookings are now open and ready for you.

Oak and Poppy

The restaurant group that are behind The Grafton Arms and The Summerhouse are now launching the all day restaurant Oak and Poppy close to Hampstead Heath. If your searching for a little pit stop for casual grazing to enjoy seasonal nutritious dishes then look no further.

For breakfast you can look forward to the buttermilk hotcake served with berries, ricotta and maple syrup or the quinoa porridge. Looking for a lighter lunch then you might be keen to try the Summerhouse salad with manouri cheese. And there is so much more from mouth-watering duo of burgers, rotisserie chicken, maple salmon, Tacos, crispy shrimp cocktail …. the food teasers have already got us drooling. The teaser of the venue is already looking quite impressive with the tree taking centre stage and the a mix of banquette and counter seating with even a striking retractable glass roof in the main dining room.

Sessions

London’s food hall scene is a growing success with people taking to the idea that no longer there is a need to negotiate what restaurant to opt for. Instead now an optional range of cuisines to dip into and the idea of blending different dishes together is now seen as desirable, particularly with the opening of the Seven Dials market recently. For Islington, Sessions is the all new mini food market opening on the 11th August.

Focusing on the future of food, Sessions empowers and promotes the best independent food brands. Their mission is focused on creating a platform for real food, real brands and real founders to allow small businesses to expand. The amazing partnerships include brands such as Sear a robota grill menu, Cheeky Buddha serving Asian Street Food, Chick Chick Crew bringing you tasty chicken buns and wings with their own signature sauces, Halo Burger a vegan burger brand and Normans Classic British breakfast dishes. There is something for everyone for whatever food mood your feeling.  Everyone likes to try something new and we certainly can’t wait to sink our jaws into some of theses delicious offerings.

Mriya

Set to open 2nd August in Chelsea, Chef Yurii Kovryzhenko and his partner Olga Tsybytovska are opening the Ukrainian Neo Bistra Mriya. The name ‘Mriya’ translates to dream in Ukrainian and this venue is more than just simply a restaurant.  This exciting and important initiative will staff the restaurant with refugees who have been forced to leave Ukraine because of the Russian invasion and will further teach us the modern day story behind Ukrainian cuisine and culture. What better way to learn about Ukraine’s beautiful heritage, people and cuisine through the language of exquisite food.

Recently Kovryzhenko has been cooking with top chefs like Tom Sellers and Jason Atherton in dinners to raise funds for humanitarian aid in Ukraine. We can  expect divine dishes such as zucchini pancakes with stracciatella and smoked trout, vinaigrette with strawberries on green pea cream and crayfish necks, chicken Kyiv with mashed new potato and green peas and borsch with porcini mushrooms and duck. Sounds delicious! Tradition will also be engraved in the cooking methods for example the vegetables will be fermented according to Ukrainian methods passed down through the ages. Vodka is a key part of Ukraine culture and this will be reflected in the drinks list which will feature Dima’s Vodka across a special martini list, vodka infusions and a vodka and food pairing option.

This new opening is certainly a dream come true!
