There is only one One Aldwych
Our story is very much our own to write. One Aldwych is one of the very few hotels in London (or indeed the world), that can say it is truly independent. This is our home, and everything we create and curate is for the delight of our guests in our singular beautiful building, at the centre of London’s most exciting neighbourhood – Covent Garden.
Stepping into our lobby is to step into a moment in history, dressed up in style. Built in 1905 as the home of the Morning Post newspaper, we like to think it still inspires spirited conversation and connection. Today, the luxuries and stylish flair of the contemporary suites and bedrooms sit easily with the stories of heritage and the influence of the arts. Warm, welcoming and a little unconventional, our interiors are fashioned as modern residences embellished with Art Nouveau flourishes and spirited English touches.
The result is an exquisite, expressive, original style as befits a truly independent London hotel.
Food & Drink
Guests are invited to join us for lunch or dinner in Indigo, a restaurant celebrating independent producers, or Eneko with its modern Basque flavours. Come teatime there’s a choice between the magical world of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory or an elegant afternoon tea in Indigo.
Under the watchful eye of Executive Chef Dominic Teague, Indigo has become a local favourite. The restaurant is informal, not stuffy, with a consistent focus on fabulous food and ingredients sourced from the best British producers. On the menu you’ll find a nutty beetroot salad spiked with horseradish and the ever-popular catch of the day, served crisp in beer batter with more than a smear of tartare sauce.
Eneko Basque Kitchen & Bar is the London outpost and vision of Michelin- starred Spanish chef Eneko Atxa whose three-Michelin Azurmendi restaurant is one of the World’s Top 50 Restaurants. His exciting menu is a modern take on the traditional flavours of the Basque region.
At the heart of our hotel is the Lobby Bar. Popular with guests and locals alike, the Lobby Bar team know before you do whether it’s time for a mean martini or a cocktail creation. Linger a little longer with a menu of tasty bites that will take you from first light to midnight.
Those in need of rest and retreat will find it in the sanctuary of The Library or cocooned in the Health Club. With its warm, natural tones, this soft, peaceful space is immediately uplifting. Our talented team of therapists are on-hand for a quick complexion fix or a mindful massage.
Energy levels restored, there’s a large gym complete with the latest Peloton bike and a 59-foot/18-metre swimming pool. With underwater music and completely chlorine-free, we know of no other pool like it.
From the beehives on our roof to filtering and bottling our own water on-site, sustainability at One Aldwych has always been a byword rather than a buzzword. Our passion for being a responsible, environmentally friendly hotel has been a central credential since our inception in 1998.
But we aren’t resting on our laurels. We’re always learning. Always evolving. And have big ambitions for 2022…
