Set in an old Victorian power station built in 1893, The Light Bar is a modern British bar and restaurant.
Under new ownership, the focus is on local produce, seasonal drinks and three floors of good times. Formerly known as the Great Eastern Electric Light Generating Station – this is the only remaining power station of its type in the UK.
Built in 1893 by the Great Eastern Railway (GER) it was the site of Colonel REB Crompton’s world famous electrical engines. An iconic building, re-born. Independently owned by long-standing Hackney residents. Proud to be able to create another chapter in its legacy – it’s the perfect backdrop for any event. Set over three floors, their mission is to create a place for everyone to enjoy – where the space is fun, the food is generous and the drinks flow.
Our food centres on simplicity, quality and flavour. The focus on sustainability – working with small, local farms to provide farm to table, seasonal dishes across all three floors. Our aim is to make as much as possible in-house using the best ingredients
Working with a small list of suppliers and a team joining from London’s best cocktail bars, we have created a focused drinks lists – with an emphasis on taste. Using wines with low intervention from small producers and strong cocktails that aim to make the alcohol shine. Our bar & kitchen teams work together to use (and re-use) produce from our allotment – creating our own tinctures and cordials to make for unforgettable drinks.
