Hello friends! I’m thrilled to be with you all for the Miss Jones Virtual Showcase, 13-14 October, and honored to be a part of such an influential lineup!
As I scrolled through the Miss Jones website and the list of other presenters, it reminded me of the power of togetherness within the Assistant community and how essential it is for us network and build relationships with the likeminded people who believe what we believe. You see, I spent many (many) years hoping to feel recognized and validated from my executives or any co-worker who outranked me. Thankfully a few years ago, I realized how futile that was – to seek validation from a group of people who don’t know what I do and couldn’t do my job if their lives depended on it. I realized that, in just the same way that I don’t know every nuance that goes in to their jobs, they don’t know enough about my day-to-day to truly appreciate my circumstances.
What we DO need, however, is validation from those that do understand our plight, other assistants. Because when you have a problem, or when you need a pat on the back, you can call any assistant in the Miss Jones Community and they will acknowledge your feelings, recognize your predicament, and grasp just about everything you’re going through regardless of age, industry, or title.
We need each other. We understand each other. We SEE each other. And we have each other’s backs. THAT’S the power of organizations like Miss Jones! I’m looking forward to seeing you all in the virtual world in October!
